Featherston Community Garden

In 2013 the congregation of St John’s at Featherston, led by the indefatigable team of Bob and Julia Reed, revived the community garden project.

The first step was to build a shed for all the gardening equipment that would be needed to make garden maintenance easier.

This sturdy and functional shed had been pre-fabricated for a local farmer but never assembled.  Bob was able to secure it for the Church and assembled it on-site by the gate leading to the vacant garden lot.  Then it was a matter of clawing back the 2011 raised garden beds from the wilderness.

With the old beds cleared ad re-planted, and new beds established, Julia decided to showcase the garden to the wider Featherston community.
