Here we have the more mundane but essential matters relating to keeping our parish running.
On the dropdown page you will find a summary of current issues and decisions made regarding the running of the parish.
The church is registered as a charity. One third of your recepted giving can be claimed back as a tax credit. We encourage you to practice generosity and reinvest the credit you are entitled to back into the church. This can be done simply and directly on the tax credit claim form IR526. http://www.ird.govt.nz/resources/3/c/3cdfa7804bbe593a83a6d3bc87554a30/ir526.pdf
Ways you may give:
Direct Credit An amount nominated by you can be credited to the church bank account directly from your account on a regular basis. Most people do this monthly.Your giving will be receipted at the end of the financial year.
Direct giving is the parish’s preferred way of giving as it makes it so much easier to forecast and budget for our needs.
The account name is: “Parish of St Andrews & St Johns” 02 0680 0015141 00
Weekly envelopes A set of envelopes are issued for each week of the year. The idea is that the envelope is placed in the offertory plate each week at church. The success of this system depends upon regular attendance at church. In future, these envelopes will be dated.
Quarterly, six-monthly or annual giving This is more popular with parishoners whose income is seasonal.
Stock scheme These schemes have been very effective in the past and have provided valuable revenue to the parish. We remain grateful to all those who have participated in these schemes. The principle is that parishoners who have breeding stock donate a certain number of their lambs (or calves) each year. They are collected when ready for sale and the proceeds of sale are donated to the church as part of that parishoner’s giving. If you are interested in taking part in this scheme please contact Peter Taylor or Colin Carruthers.
Payroll Giving We are in the process of enrolling with IRD as a donee organisation. When this is complete you will be able to donate to the church directly from your weekly or fortnightly pay.
Payroll giving, where offered by your employer, gives you the opportunity to donate to approved donee organisations direct from your pay and receive immediate tax credits that reduce your PAYE payable. You don’t need to wait until the end of the year to claim your tax credit.
We will let you know when we have donee status and what you need to do to take advantage of this option.
