The parish of South Wairarapa is the largest geographic parish in the Wellington Diocese. We have seven worshipping centres: St John’s, Featherston; St Andrew’s, Martinborough; Burnside, Pirinoa; St Francis’, Kahutara; All Saints’, Waiorongomai; Tuturumuri Chapel and Hinakura Chapel.
Our vision is to encourage parishioners to participate in our church’s work, to grow in Christ, and to reach out to the community we live in. On these pages we have set out some of the things we do to achieve these goals and to keep you up to date with what’s going on in your parish.
While our regular services and activities are concentrated on Martinborough and Featherston, we are blessed with a number of small country chapels where we are able to join the small rural communities for regular services and special events like the Kahutara pet service and the Waiorongomai Christmas Eve carols.
Discussion, study and social groups are a regular part of parish life. There is a regular breakfast club and homework club at the St Andrews hall on school weekdays, Lovebugs for Featherston pre-schoolers as well as a community garden. You’ll find out more about these activities on the ‘our groups’ page.
Congregations are varied and vibrant and we preach the Gospel in a way that is relevant to the lives of our people.
